OSAKA, Japan, Feb. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. was selected on January 25, 2012, as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World," an annual project promoted by Canadian publisher Corporate Knights Inc., U.S. information company Bloomberg and other organizations. Daiwa House, which was selected for two years in a row, was the only Japanese housing company on the Global 100 list, ranked 57th.
The Global 100 is an annual project initiated in 2005 by Corporate Knights, which has since announced selected companies during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting known as the Davos Conference.
About 3,500 major companies around the world were analyzed in terms of CSR in areas such as environmental, societal and governance to assess their sustainability. Out of these companies, the top 100 were named, including Daiwa House and 11 other Japanese companies.
Daiwa House's selection resulted from appreciation of its wide-ranging environmental endeavors in business operations as well as its innovative capabilities and other factors contributing to the company's sustainability.
From now on, Daiwa House will continue to promote CSR activities while aiming to achieve a society in which everyone can live spiritually enriched lives by creating new value, using it and refining it with our customers. In this way, Daiwa House will be "a Group that is co-creating value for individuals, communities, and people's lifestyles."
Furthermore, Daiwa House will contribute to people's comfortable lives and to the development of a sustainable society by providing products and services required by society, based on the keywords of "A-su-fu-ka-ke-tsu-no," Japanese syllables meaning "indispensible for tomorrow" that can also be read as acronyms for Safety & Comfort, Speed, Welfare, Environment, Health, Information-Communication Technology and Agriculture.
