Vetrazzo Develops and Deploys ERP, Order Management and Inventory Management Applications on Force.com in Just a Matter of Months

Manufacturing company joins growing number of companies developing custom applications on Force.com to run their business in the cloud

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), today announced that Vetrazzo has joined the growing number of companies using custom Force.com applications to run their business in the cloud. In less than six months, Vetrazzo designed and deployed applications on the Force.com platform, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), order management, inventory management, document management and more.

Vetrazzo is one of the 47,700 companies of all sizes, industries and geographies that comprised the salesforce.com customer base as of July 31, 2008. Revenue and subscribers will be recognized as the service is delivered.

"We are growing rapidly and were looking for ways to improve our operational efficiency. We knew we needed enterprise resource planning capabilities," said James Sheppard, president at Vetrazzo. "We evaluated a variety of traditional client/server offerings, but found them to be inflexible and require a significant financial investment for software and maintenance. When we looked at Force.com, the choice was clear. With Force.com we realized we could easily build a solution exactly to our specifications, more quickly, and at a lower cost. Just as importantly, we knew we could modify it to grow with us without the burden of a team of costly consultants."

Looking to extend the success of its Salesforce CRM application, Vetrazzo used Force.com to build custom solutions for order management; inventory management; production planning and scheduling; raw materials management; shipping and logistics; document management; and warranty management. The company also leveraged salesforce.com's Visualforce user interface technology to create an interface specifically designed for staff in production and inventory management.

Now, Vetrazzo has a single, central source for all critical business data which, in turn, provides access to the information needed to make strategic business decisions. Looking forward, the company plans to build additional functionality for purchasing and equipment maintenance management, as well as to roll out a comprehensive metrics dashboard that will provide a constant pulse on all aspects of the organization.

"We built a custom suite of enterprise applications in less time and at less cost than if we had embarked upon a client/server ERP software implementation," added Sheppard. "And Force.com has put us completely in control of how we manage and use information. We now know every decision we make is based on accurate and complete data. We couldn't have asked for anything better."
